Sitting at home last night twiddling my thumbs, I set out on a fairly difficult programming exercise which kept me amused until about 3am! If I make another push today I should have it finished. Finishing is the hardest part as it involves starting out again and that involves overcoming procrastination. More details later when I have finished.

..not for the weak hearted

Bearing the CrossSpeaking of procrastination, I have a book to finish. Recently I have been reading Bearing the Cross a biography of Martin Luther King. This review sums it up accurately:

"First of all, this isn't a biography for the weak-hearted. It's around 1,000 pages on long. Rather than bouncing from Montgomery to Birmingham to Selma, as if the Southern Civil Rights Movement carried itself entirely on momentum, this book explores the details and compromises that went into King's political maneuverings.

Garrow is also unafraid to discuss King's frailties, implicitly positing (and answering) the question: don't a persons public actions and deeds outweigh their private shortcomings? (yes)"

I took a peek to see how much I had to go and was surprised that I was about 20 pages from the end. The references make up about the last 1/5 of the book so it is not apparent that you are coming to the (sudden) end.

I spent last night and this morning writing a little program in Python which I installed on my Internet Provider's server. The program is run when a mail is sent to a certain email address and it then posts the mail to the livejournal server.

Here's a sample of the program:
